Hot climate installations

How Bettr saunas behave in hot, dry, or sun-heavy environments — session timing, wood behavior, cold plunge planning, and shading.

Bettr saunas operate normally in hot climates.

Heat-up time in hot weather
Unchanged. The heater hits target temperature regardless of starting outdoor temperature.
Comfort during outdoor heat
Running the sauna during peak afternoon outdoor heat is uncomfortable for some users. Consider session timing in summer (early morning, late evening) to avoid stacking heat exposures.
Wood behavior in dry heat
In hot, dry climates, the wood may dry more than usual. This is fine and reverses with normal use of the sauna (löyly humidity restores the wood's normal state). Inspect for any deep cracks or splits during dry seasons; surface checking is normal.
Cold plunge during summer
Cold plunge water warms quickly in hot climates. Plan for a chiller, ice additions, or a shaded location to maintain useful contrast temperatures.
Cabin cool-down
In hot climates, the cabin cools more slowly after sessions. Crack the door open to ventilate during cool-down.
Sun exposure
Direct sun on the cabin can warm the wood surface during hot afternoons. This doesn't affect operation but can make the wood feel hot to touch before you've started a session. Consider partial shade if your installation site is in full afternoon sun.
