Loading sauna stones

Initial loading procedure for the 20 kg of Harvia stones — rinse, dry, stack loose with air gaps, biggest on bottom.

The 20 kg of Harvia sauna stones included with your heater are the heart of the löyly experience. They store and radiate heat, and they're what you pour water on to create steam.

Initial loading steps

1. The stones come in a sealed bag in your shipment. Before loading, rinse them with fresh water to remove dust from packaging.
2. Let them dry completely (a few hours in the sun, or overnight indoors).
3. Load the stones into the heater stone basket. Stack them loosely so air can flow between them. Don't pack them tightly.
4. The largest stones go on the bottom, medium in the middle, smaller on top.
5. Cover the heating elements but don't bury them deeply. The heat needs to circulate up through the stone pile.
