Summer care
Hot, dry climate considerations — wood drying, vent obstruction by insects, drainage after heavy rain.
In hot, dry climates, the wood may dry more than usual. This is fine and reverses with normal use, but inspect for any deep cracks or splits.
- Check the airflow vents are clear of insects, leaves, or debris (insects sometimes nest in vents during warm months)
- Verify drainage around the foundation is still working if you've had any heavy rain
- For installations in full afternoon sun, monitor wood condition; if you see significant new checking, consider partial shade or a sauna-safe wood oil application
- Maintain regular session schedules; löyly humidity helps maintain wood condition
