Energy use per session

Section 9.11Using your sauna

Energy use per session

Approximate kWh per 1-hour session by model. Multiply by your local electricity rate for cost per session.

Energy consumption for a typical session depends on your model, ambient temperature, and session length. Approximate ranges:

ModelHeaterApproximate energy per 1-hour session
2-Person4.5 kW2.5 to 3.5 kWh
3-Person6.0 kW3 to 4.5 kWh
4-Person6.0 kW3.5 to 5 kWh
8-Person9.0 kW5 to 7 kWh

These estimates account for heat-up time plus run time at target temperature. A well-insulated cabin uses less energy after reaching target than a poorly-insulated one because the heater cycles less often to maintain temperature. The 42 mm walls and triple insulation help keep your per-session cost lower than uninsulated alternatives.

For your specific cost per session, multiply your energy use by your local electricity rate. Your utility bill shows the rate per kWh in your area.
