Smells during operation
Faint burn-off in first sessions is normal. Strong chemical, persistent burn, or musty smells warrant a call.
A faint burn-off smell during the first 2 to 3 sessions is normal (Section 8.1).
Strong chemical or burning smell (stop using and contact our team)
- The smell is strong and unmistakable, not faint
- It persists into the third session and beyond
- It's combined with visible smoke or excessive heat from the heater housing
- Wood smell
- Wood releases its natural scent when heated, especially Canadian Red Cedar. This is normal and many owners consider it a feature. Both woods diminish in scent over the first few months as the cabin breaks in, but never fully lose it.
- Musty, sour, or rotten smell (contact our team immediately)
- Not normal. Can indicate moisture damage.
